Earth Day Celebration – New Date!
Due to the stormy weather on April 22, we’ve shifted our Earth Day celebration to Saturday, May 6, 10am-2pm.
Earth Day will now join the kick-off for our weekly Farmers Market for an extra special green+market day!!
This year our annual Earth Day celebration will include environmental non-profits, local farmers, green-minded crafters and businesses, renewable energy companies, presentations by a local geologist/author and an ecology-inspired sculptor.
We are partnering with our friends at MD Volt and the Maryland Tesla Owners Club to host an electric vehicle display and EV owners meet-up during the celebration.
If you will be bringing your electric vehicle, please register on the Commons’ page on the Drive Electric Earth Day website: https://driveelectricearthday.org/event?eventid=3607.
*Local artist Paul Steinkoenig will be speaking about his sculpture, ‘Solar Hope,’ which was installed on the plaza last August in the Community Room at 10:30am.
*Local geologist and author Ned Tillman will be speaking in the Community Room at 11:30am about the history of the Chesapeake region and his just-published new book. Copies of all his books will be available for purchase.
This event is free, but pre-registration is requested for the Earth Day speakers:

*The first 25 people to register for Ned’s presentation will receive a free copy of his new book!
